Gyms, studios and fitness clubs

Remove fake Google reviews from your gym or studio

New members read your reviews before they ever book a trial. When the one star is from someone venting about another gym, an old coach or a spam account, we report it to Google under its own rules.

£100 per review, only when Google removes it. Nothing upfront, nothing if it stays. We reply by email within one working day.

The fake reviews we see most in your trade

Five fake reviews gyms and studios see most.

Each can break a Google policy when the facts back it up. Member lists and door entry logs usually settle it.

The ex member of a different gym

Contract, fee or kit complaints about another club, often a chain with a similar name.

Google policy: Off topic

The coach who left

A former trainer, instructor or staff member posting about you after leaving.

Google policy: Conflict of interest

Spam and fake accounts

Clusters of one word reviews from accounts with no photo and no history, often on the same day.

Google policy: Fake engagement

The rival studio

Reviews that knock your classes and praise a new studio nearby by name.

Google policy: Conflict of interest

Abuse aimed at members or coaches

Mocking someone's body, singling out a member or coach by name, or using slurs.

Google policy: Harassment and hate speech

Two examples, side by side

One review we would report. One we would answer.

Both reviews below are made up to show how we decide. Names and details are examples, not real customers.

Tried to cancel for three months and they kept taking £40 a month. The pool is always freezing too. Avoid.
We report this: Wrong businessGoogle policy: Off topicThis gym has no pool, has never charged £40 a month and runs rolling monthly memberships. No member by that name is on the system, and the details match a chain club with a similar name across town.

Good coaches but the changing rooms are often grim by the evening and one of the showers has been broken for weeks.
We answer this. It stays up.
Response from the owner Example reply

Thanks Ollie, that is fair, and sorry. The broken shower is booked in for repair, and we have added a cleaning check at 6pm when the changing rooms are busiest. Tell us at the desk if it is ever not up to standard.

Advice for gyms and studios

Keep new members coming through the door.

With so many clubs sharing similar names, mix ups happen. These habits make the fakes easier to prove.

  1. Keep member lists and leaving dates

Membership records and door entry logs are how we show Google that a reviewer was never a member. Note when coaches and instructors leave, too.

  2. Answer cancellation complaints, never argue them

Contract and cancellation complaints from real members stay up. A calm reply that explains how to cancel helps the next person reading it.

  3. Never mention a member's details in a reply

Do not quote someone's visits, payments or progress back to them in public, however unfair the review.

  4. Ask after a win

A first class, a new personal best or a finished challenge is the moment to ask for a review. Free sessions or kit in exchange for a good one are not allowed by Google.

What stays up

What we will not try to remove.

Genuine reviews from real members are never removable. We will not try, and we will tell you so.

Questions owners ask

Gym and studio owners ask us this.

Someone who was never a member left us one star. Can it come down?

If the review describes a different club, prices you do not charge or facilities you do not have, and no member matches, it may be off topic or not based on a real experience. We file it with that evidence, and you pay £100 only if Google removes it.

A former coach is posting reviews about us. What can we do?

Reviews from former staff are a conflict of interest under Google's rules. Tell us who left and when, and we look at the account and timing before we file.

A member is unhappy about our cancellation terms. Can that review be removed?

No. A real member describing their own contract is a genuine review. We help you answer it with a calm reply that explains how cancelling works.

We had a wave of one word, one star reviews in a day. Is that an attack?

It might be. Clusters of short reviews from new accounts can break Google's fake engagement policy. Send us the link the same day. On the managed plan, our daily attack watch looks for this for you.

A review about a gym that is not yours?

Send us the link. We check it against Google's policies and reply by email within one working day.
